Design and Lighting Supply for Saedinia Café

The reconciliation between the city and its citizens is an undeniable necessity. Streets and urban pathways are not merely transit routes; they serve as a platform for life and interaction. Given the diminishing presence of this concept in modern cities and the prevalence of citizens who use vehicles solely to reach their destinations quickly, this project focuses on strengthening the connection between the city (the passage), the café, and the citizen (the passerby). Additionally, the project’s proximity to several social centers and the high number of visitors in this area further emphasize the importance of this connection.

In the initial design phases, efforts were made to not only meet the project’s needs by considering spatial arrangements and diverse spatial experiences but also to create meaningful relationships between different layers of space, enhancing the pleasure of presence within it.

The architectural solution proposed to achieve this goal is the creation of an intermediary space between the café and the city, referred to as the courtyard. Acting as a link between public and private spaces, this courtyard provides a setting for interaction, pause, and the experience of urban presence.

Lighting Design

The lighting approach at Saedinia Café focuses on spatial clarity, creating a sense of invitation, and enhancing the user experience. In the café’s semi-open space, just as meaningful contrasts are present in the materials and design, the lighting also features purposeful contrast. The use of task lighting in functional areas, accent lighting for product display sections, and carefully selected color temperatures for each zone have all contributed to creating a harmonious and pleasant atmosphere, offering a unique experience for visitors.
